Less than a week after making history and winning the flies’ linear belt (up to 56.7 kg), Deiveson Figueiredo seems to be already focused on his first title defence. The Brazilian received an unusual challenge from number three in the division, Brandon Moreno, and, at first, agreed to exchange forces against his rival.
“We don’t need any more wars in this world. We need love, and I have a lot of love to give,” wrote Moreno on his Instagram account.
Upon learning of the possible opponent’s onslaught, Figueiredo was quick to respond to Brandon’s publication. In a provocative tone, the ‘God of War’ accepted the meeting and suggested the month for the duel to be promoted.
“You will have a lot of love in the first round. Be prepared to face me in November,”, replied the parents.
Last Saturday (18), Deiveson entered the history of Brazilian MMA after becoming the first athlete in the country to win a title among the flies. The conquest came after a dominant and overwhelming victory over Joseph Benavidez in the primary fight of UFC Ilha da Luta 2.
While the Brazilian surfs at the best moment of his career, Brandon tries to reach his first title fight since his debut for Ultimate. The Mexican 26 years, now has three presentations by the organization, with two wins and a draw.
