With two more fights under his contract in the UFC, Anderson Silva continues to convince the organization to promote his confrontation against Anthony Pettis. On its social networks, ‘Spider’ rereleased an unofficial poster suggesting the fight between the two legends of the sport.
A few months ago, Anderson, who had knee surgery, is nearing the end of his contract with Ultimate, which could decree his retirement from MMA. At 45, the Brazilian has already confirmed that he intends to fulfil his commitment to the organization, climbing the octagon on two more occasions.
When he proposed the confrontation for the first time, Silva was promptly answered by Pettis, who was open and excited to test himself against Anderson. Coming from a victory over Donald Cerrone at UFC 249 in May, the athlete, who played in the welterweight division at the time, sees no problem moving up even further to face ‘Spider’ between the welterweight (up to 83.9kg.).
Even with UFC morale, taking into account his great achievements as the highest name in the history of middleweight in MMA, Anderson’s desire comes up against the hope of the company’s president, Dana White, to promote the confrontation. The ‘big boss’ has already stated openly that he finds no sense in the duel between the two former champions, but will wait for Silva’s full recovery to negotiate his next step.
Anderson hasn’t been in the octagon since May last year, when he played at UFC 257, in Rio de Janeiro. At the time, the fighter ended up succumbing to Jared Cannonier’s physical strength and was defeated by knockout in the first round.
